Abstract
For over 1,400 years, from Prophet Muhammad’s initial sermon in Mecca, the Quran has captivated the interest of countless scholars worldwide. It’s been central in the lives of its followers, with its Divine Teachings prompting deep reflection and earnest efforts to live by its guidance. Yet, historical accounts reveal that aligning fully with the Quran’s directives has been challenging. This piece delves into diverse perspectives on engaging with the Quran, focusing on the “correct interaction with the Quran” framework, introduced by the eminent 20th-century Islamic scholar, Muhammad al-Ghazali (1917-1996). It outlines the core elements of al-Ghazali’s approach, emphasizing the connection between Quranic teachings and daily life. Al-Ghazali argued that modern Muslim societies, including ours, have somewhat drifted from these foundational principles.
