This article examines artificial intelligence (AI) from technological, economic, and ethical perspectives, with a particular focus on its integration into Muslim-majority societies. It first defines AI and highlights its significant advantages in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, while also addressing serious risks, including job displacement and algorithmic bias. The main part of the study substantiates the Islamic legal position that AI is, in principle, permissible, guided by the principle of utility and the Qur’anic injunction to employ creation for the benefit of humankind. It is particularly emphasized that this permissibility is ethically constrained by the principle of harm prevention. In conclusion, the article calls for a strategic revival, strongly encouraging Muslim-majority countries to draw upon their rich scientific heritage through national investment and educational reform to ensure that future AI innovations remain globally competitive and aligned with Islamic moral values.
